This weekend was a first for me. The first time to help build fence that is. We set t-post and corner post last week in the evenings after work and tried getting everything ready for this weekend. Saturday, which was a beautiful day, we strung the wire and clipped it. With the help of Bo, Papa Steve, and Chuck we were able to get a little over ½ a mile of 5 wire barb wire completed. The only injuries were:
*Barb wire to back of head-Allen
*Barb wire hit tooth-Allen
*Barb wire hit right eye-Allen
*Barb Wire sliced neck-Allen
Are you seeing a trend? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…I’m married to an accident prone! Regardless, all injuries were minor and no emergency room visits…yet…we still have a little bit left to do this year. Cross your fingers for me!!!
Sunday was a much colder day! I didn’t want to go outside let alone build more fences! So we only had to go out there to set a couple hedge posts. After that I made Chili! It was so nice to have the aroma of Chili in the house on a cold windy day! We haven’t had it for so long it seems. I love how there are certain meals you have in the winter and certain meals in the summer. Just when you’re getting tired and bored with one seasons foods the weather changes and you’re excited to cook again.

Boating
In July we purchased a new boat. It's a Yamaha AR230 High Output.
We took it out several times to Big Hill Lake but didn't make it anywhere else. It never really seemed like it got really hot this summer either.
Gage absolutely loves it. He likes getting in the lake and swimming around and he will even do a little tubing. Allen is really good on ski's and he has been trying to learn to wakeboard. I have been trying to learn to ski all summer and finally was able to get up the very last time we were out. Too bad fall came so soon! Guess we will just have to wait to enjoy the boat again next summer and hopefully we can go to some other lakes.

Coffeyville Demolition Derby
I am a little late posting this but Tuesday evening was the Coffeyville Interstate Fair & Rodeo's Demoliton Derby. Of coarse Allen participated. He ended up taking a fresh Chevy Wagon.
Monday evening I really wanted to take Gage over to the motorcross night but with plans for friends to come over for supper already it just didn't work out. It also rained like crazy in Coffeyville and with rain came a rained out show. So Tuesday evening we got to watch the motorcross and demolition derby.
My co-worker Chelse has been making shirts that are adorable for kids and surprised me with one for Gage. So he was cheering his daddy on proudly showing #96.
Allen won his heat and went on to win the main event! He was really excited. His uncle, David Winters, won the very first demolition derby held in 1969 at the Coffeyville Interstate Fair & Rodeo. Randy Winters, Allen's dad, won 2 or 3 times in the early 80's. For those readers that didn't know, 5 years ago Tuesday night (the night of the derby) Allen's dad died a couple hours after the watching the derby. So needless to say it meant a lot for him to win the other night.
Here is an article on the fair's website

Sadie the Puppy
Sadie was with us long enough...long enough to figure out she needed a new home!
I think part of the problem was that our family was just spoiled when we had Racey. I never knew what I was going to find when I came home from work out in the yard. Sadie slept in our garage and was able to come and go into the yard through her doggie door. She would take anything and everything out of my garage that would fit through that dog door and have it everywhere! She also figured out how to take the lid off of Gage's sandbox and one day I came home and all the sand was in a pile next to the sandbox. Gage nor Allen shoveled it out. She also liked to bite and tackle Gage. I had her trained for sit, down and come but she was extremely hiper. I would play fetch and walk her but she still had so much energy. I decided to put her on the internet and if she sold she sold and if not then I would continue to raise her. It didn't take long and a gentleman from Lamar called and purchased her. I can't tell you how nice it is to see Gage running through the yard again without being tackled or when I pull up in the drive not seeing a million things torn up into tiny pieces (paper, blankets, staking flags, a chicken)
I guess I learned a lesson that ...
1. were not ready for a larger breed dog and
2. I think we are busy enough we don't need a dog for now
Oh, and you probably are wondering if Gage cared. No. If you ask him she found a new home that loves her and if you ask him if he misses her his answer, usually, is no.

Big Hill Beach
Tuesday I took Gage and met Mickey, Miranda & Madeline at the Big Hill beach. The kids had so much fun and the best thing was that this week admission to the lake is free.
We have been having a blast on our new boat and we have our swiming pool at home that we swim in all the time but Gage still likes to get out and actually touch the ground. The Corp of Engineers have hauled in 80 loads of sand so it's not rocky at all this year and has made the beach really nice. Hopefully we can get back out there before too long. Until next time here are some pictures.

New Pictures
My sister Kelli came over Saturday and took some pictures of Gage. If you would like to view them you can see them at her website http://www.kellicarnahanphotography.com/ and go to the left where it says enter in same window, then go to clients, and the password is gage.
